Washington D.C. Tragedy

originally shared with the community May 22, 2025

Dear Friends,

Every day, here at Tucson Jewish Museum & Holocaust Center, our dedicated staff and volunteers work hard to fight antisemitism and identity-based hate. We do this through education, exploration, advocacy, and collaboration because we believe that together, with our allies and friends, we can build a more just, equitable, and safer Southern Arizona community for all.

It was devastating to learn of the horrific acts of last night's shooting in Washington D.C. outside of another institution that works so hard to fight hate and antisemitism. Two young lives, Yaron Lischinsky (z"l) and Sarah Milgrim (z"l), were tragically and senselessly taken out of anger and hatred.

Today, we hold the families and loved ones of these two young people in our hearts.

We also hold near our colleagues from the Capital Jewish Museum and the American Jewish Committee and all of the other Jewish communal professionals, as we all steel ourselves for the continued work ahead.

At Tucson Jewish Museum & Holocaust Center, we remain steadfast and resolved, because the work has never been more important. We are so grateful to all of those who have reached out to us today in support and solidarity. Your love and light are felt and appreciated.
