In Every Generation: Storytelling, Lore, and Cultural Transmission

This panel explores how folklore (Jewish and otherwise) shapes our understanding of fear, identity, and survival. Drawing on Dracula's symbolic legacy and Jewish storytelling traditions, we’ll investigate the role of supernatural tales, literature, antisemitic myths, and oral histories in carrying memory across generations as well as how institutions preserve and reinterpret communal stories in the digital age.

Featuring:

Lori Shepherd, Executive Director of Tucson Jewish Museum & Holocaust Center

Kate Bernheimer, a distinguished fairy-tale scholar, author, and editor of fiction and fairy tales

Dr. Benjamin Jens, an expert on Slavic literature and Eastern European culture

This program is part of the Tucson J Beth & Mike Kasser Patron of the Arts Signature Series, and is made possible with support from the Patron of the Arts Society, The Gila Fund, and Caron M. Mitchell, CPA.
