Antisemitism & the Jews of Color Initiative, featuring Ilana Kaufman

Tucson Jewish Museum & Holocaust Center continues the 2026 Lakin Lecture Series on Antisemitism with Ilana Kaufman, the Chief Executive Officer of the Jews of Color Initiative (JoCI). Guided by contemporary research and the experiences of Jews of Color, and leveraging strategies such as grantmaking, research, and community education, the Jews of Color Initiative works to create communities and institutions that reflect the multiracial reality of the Jewish people.

Ilana is a prominent thought leader advancing the communal field for Jews of Color and, by extension, the U.S. Jewish Community. She is currently on a national listening tour with Jewish communities around the country, and looks forward to discussing her leadership in the field, JoCI’s current efforts, and the data and research that inspires much of this work. She will make sense of it all in conversation with the community through panel discussion and Q&A.

This event can be attended either in-person at the Tucson J or via Zoom. Those intending to watch with Zoom will receive a Zoom invitation link to their email shortly before the event.

This Lakin Lecture Series on Antisemitism is made possible with the generous support from the Alma and Ed Lakin Education Fund, which was established at the Jewish Community Foundation of Southern Arizona by their daughter in order to honor Alma and Eddie’s lifelong commitment to Holocaust Education, the people of Israel, to Jewish Life, and to the combatting of antisemitism and advocacy for social justice.

With special thanks to our program partners Jewish Philanthropies of Southern Arizona and The J (Tucson Jewish Community Center)
