Intimate Histories in 3D

Tucson Jewish Museum & Holocaust Center announces an innovative new collaboration between the museum, University of Arizona’s Center for Digital Humanities, and our local Holocaust survivors – Intimate Histories in 3D. The work has helped TJMHC capture and preserve the testimonies from ten survivors and two second-generation survivors to be shared for future generations to come.

The project uses advanced volumetric capture technology to create immersive, three-dimensional recordings of survivor testimonies that can be viewed on tablets and personal devices. In addition to creating a new way to archive these important testimonies, TJMHC is excited to be able to share these interactive experiences with students and viewers as they engage with them on tablets and their own personal devices.

This project represents a significant step forward in historical preservation, using technology to bridge the gap between past and present, ensuring that these crucial first-hand accounts of the Holocaust continue to educate and impact audiences for generations to come. While Intimate Histories in 3D is  our first cohort and iteration of this project, the team of TJMHC looks forward to working with this evolving and growing technology as it matures and expands.

Please join TJMHC and local survivors as we unveil the first of the installed testimonies during an open house on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 from 6:00-7:30 p.m.
